Investing.com: Super Mario Redux

Hello!

Here's the latest comic for Investing.com. This week's subject deals with the European Central Bank's (at the time) upcoming policy meeting.

The team at Investing.com asked me to draw ECB President Mario Draghi dressed as Super Mario in a parody of the video game. They asked me to include two coin boxes reading "Q" and "E" (standing for "Quantitative Easing") and the ECB building in the background. I was also asked to include some financial figures at the top (instead of the usual video game scores and time clock numbers).

Here's the sketch:

And here's the final:

Thoughts:

This one was super fun. Anything that parodies/references an iconic childhood pastime of mine is ok in my book. Also, working with an intensely saturated color palette and trying to make things look pixelated was a fun challenge.

Until next week.

Cheers.
