This is a set of character concepts for a story I can't tell you about. Though I've secured permission to display these and subsequent concept drawings for this project, I can't reveal too many salient details about either the character or the story.

Here are a few preliminary sketches for a restoration project with which I am currently involved. The hat of the sculpture (an infantry soldier from the Spanish American War) was known as a "Campaign Hat". These sketches are primarily for shape and scale reference, as well as to demonstrate some of the ways in which the brim was worn.

Sorry it's been a while since my last post. I've been working on a substantial set of concept drawings for "Programs and People" (an agricultural magazine). The feature story deals with how various commercial and private interests use and manage water in a time of rapidly decreasing resources.
Because the subject is broad enough, I thought I would take a similarly broad approach and present a potpourri of ideas ranging from Mayan hieroglyphs to Norman Rockwell. The piece will eventually be a feature illustration with eight subsequent 2-page spreads.

Here's the completed version of my latest project. This commission came from a great guy named Nicolas who has one of the coolest jobs ever: a chef who is constantly traveling to interesting places. Nico is also unashamedly French and has a great sense of humor, so the stereotypical setting and clothing were his idea. I think it turned out great.
