I'm beginning to feel as if I have some sort of blogging disorder. It says on my dashboard that I last posted on April 16th. It's now May 10th and I'm about to post a lot of work. Fasting for that long and then binging can't be healthy, but there's an explanation: several of the following posts had to be kept under wraps for various reasons. So, without further ado...
This set is a series of drawings and sketches done for a public art proposal in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. I'm working on the project with a friend of mine. Each of us conceived of an idea and we were both going to submit, but for the sake of time (or a lack thereof), I decided we should axe mine and focus on one proposal.
The piece is a mobius strip. Mathematically, it's a shape with only one surface. Coeur d' Alene's history is fairly cyclical with regard to its economy and a few other facets, so the mobius seemed an appropriate approach. The idea was also born of a desire to make manifest the conflation of engineered and natural environments in Cd'A.
