Holy Diver

This illustration is a re-do of an oil painting I did years ago. A friend of mine always wanted to buy it from me and I had finally decided to give it up. But when I took a second look at the painting, I couldn't stand to give something so terrible to a friend (in the interest of full disclosure, I typically only like my own illustrations for about a week after their completion. The oil painting, being several years old, had no chance). At any rate, here's the new version. It's watercolor, ink, and colored pencil on Bristol.

This is really great. I don't know how you did that streaking to simulate the water, but it's fantastic. I'm going to stand by my opinion though...the oil painting was awesome.

It's not that the oil painting was bad. It's that it was SO bad it made me want to stick my finger through my eye into my brain and SWIRL it around.

If only I'd thought to visit here sooner I could've gotten a sneak preview! I am very happy with the piece, but I have to agree with Mel; I still think the oil painting was awesome.
